2009 Events
Celebrate PAMAR’s 25th Anniversary
Latin American Cultural Week 2009 events will take place
between November 9 and 22 in all five
boroughs of New York City. LACW 2009 is
produced by PAMAR (Pan American Musical
Art Research, Inc. –
http://www.pamar.org) and
celebrates the organization’s 25th
Anniversary. Partnering with many of the
City’s most prestigious cultural
institutions, their goal is to present
the highest quality art and artists to
the broadest cross-section of the
community. This years’ schedule includes
events in visual arts, auctions,
artist’s talks and panel discussions,
book presentations

Once again, LACW is supported by the
Latin Media and Entertainment Commission
of the City of New York and by public
funds from the New York City Department
of Cultural Affairs. We are very
grateful for their support, and are also
grateful for the support of the Tourism
Office of the City of Buenos Aires and
Wines of Argentina, who are back for
their second year of invaluable

This year’s signature events are the
Latin
American Piano Festival on
November 9 and the New York debut
performance of Polly Ferman’s
GlamourTango
at the Highline Ballroom on November 23.
PAMAR and LACW will also be presenting a
very special, invitation only, 25th
Anniversary celebration at Sotheby’s on
November 15th.
LACW 2009 opens on November 9, 12:00
noon in the World Financial Center
Winter Garden with the
Latin
American Piano Festival,
featuring (left to right) Uruguay's
Polly Ferman, American Allison Brewster
Franzetti, Mexican Max Lifchitz,
Argentina's Octavio Brunetti (with
guitarist Adam Tully) and Argentina's
Carlos Franzetti. These superb pianists
will present Latin American repertory,
ranging from nationalistic to classical
and contemporary, to jazz and tango
solos, pieces for 2 pianos, as well as 4
and 8 hand pieces. Also participating
are tango dancers Karina Romero and
Dardo Galetto. |

LACW 2009 closes on November 23 – 8 PM
at The Highline Ballroom, 431 W. 16th
Street, with the New York Debut
performance of
GlamourTango,
which takes the audience on a musical
journey through the 20th century with a
singular and renewed vision of the role
of women in Tango. Both elegant and bold,
GlamourTango was conceived by Polly
Ferman, renowned Uruguayan pianist and
Music Director, as an homage to the
women who have not been fully recognized
for their many contributions to Tango.
This stylish production features an all-women
ensemble from around the world,
beguiling dancers, and Valeria Lima,
Uruguay's leading vocalist. GlamourTango
will celebrate with this unforgettable
tribute the artistry and passion of the
great female pioneers of tango.
